In Austria, 764 new corona cases have been reported in the past 24 hours. In Upper Austria 57 positive test results were registered. With 400 newly discovered cases within 24 hours, Vienna again recorded a peak value on Tuesday.
For the first time since the end of March there were more than 6000 active corona virus cases in Austria on Tuesday. In a 24-hour comparison, 764 new infections were added. This means that there were 6194 actively infected persons as of 9.30 a.m., according to figures from the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Health.
14 cases at schools in Upper Austria
One day after the start of school, 14 cases of corona were reported in schools in Upper Austria – affecting twelve students and two teachers at a total of 13 locations. School locations in Gmunden, Wels, Freistadt, Linz, Grein and Kremsmünster are affected.
The cluster at a parcel service provider in Linz, which at the beginning of the week included 40 infected employees and eight contact persons, has grown from Monday to Tuesday and now numbers a total of 60 people – 48 employees and twelve subsequent cases. A second series of tests will be carried out at the company on September 21.
The cluster around a now closed mosque in Freistadt has increased by one case and currently counts 41 infected persons.
There is a call to train travelers and public transport users: A person infected with Covid-19 was on the way on Saturday in the Railjet from Vöcklabruck (departure: 12.54 o’clock) to Linz and in the Westbahn from Linz (departure: 17.30 o’clock) to Vöcklabruck. In Linz the person used the streetcar between 13.45 and 17.00 hours.
More patients in hospital
More and more people have to be treated in hospital. While 255 Covid patients were still in hospital on Monday, on Tuesday there were already 293 people, 49 of whom were in intensive care units. Throughout Austria, 757 people have died as a result of the corona virus. So far there have been 34,305 positive test results. 27,354 people have recovered. So far, 1,364,508 PCR tests have been performed in Austria, 13,100 results have been reported in the past 24 hours.
Record high in Vienna
Vienna again recorded the highest number of new infections on Tuesday, with 400 new infections and a total of 4,735 tests performed in the past 24 hours. There were 110 new infections in Tyrol, where 1,374 tests were performed in the past 24 hours. Lower Austria reported 95 new infections on Tuesday. The number of tests increased by 1,628 from Monday to Tuesday.
Upper Austria reported 57 new cases of Covid-19 on Tuesday with 1,042 tests since Monday. Styria reported an increase of 44 new infections, 1,980 tests were performed in the past 24 hours. In Vorarlberg there were 25 new infections, where the number of tests increased by 667. 20 new infections were reported in Salzburg on Tuesday – with only 199 tests performed in the past 24 hours. In Carinthia, seven new infections were reported on Tuesday – with 654 PCR tests since Monday.
The smallest increase in new infections was recorded in Burgenland with six people. Here 821 tests were performed in the past 24 hours.
